Great place to see planes take off and land. Happy and helpful staff in museum. You can see in cockpit of some of the planes on exhibit also.

A group of us descended on the Fighter World facility at Williamtown near Newcastle for what we thought was a quick look see. Having gained entry after the usual COVID checks we were surprised and delighted to be greeted by Jack, one of the volunteer tour guides, who walked us around the exhibits explaining each and every aircraft, ordinance and aviation paraphernalia with intimate detail and obvious lived authority. Jack is a retired fighter pilot with the RAAF and worked as a fighter pilot trainer, so he really knows his stuff! Over the 1.5hr tour Jack recounted his many experiences in the trade, some gained on the actual aircraft on display, and answered every question with great aplomb, all to the thrall of everyone present. For the aviation aficionados we got up-and-personal with a General Dynamics F-111, a CAC Avon Sabre, a Mirage III, a Pilates PC-9 trainer, a couple of Supermarine Spitfire MkIXs, a meticulously faithful replica of a Sopwith Camel F1, and many more. Afterwords we retired to the on-site cafe for a much deserved snack and listened to the deafening F-35 Joint Strike Fighters taking off on training runs behind us. Highly recommended, even if you’re not an aspiring fighter pilot.

A fabulous display and preservation of Australia’s (RAAF) fighter planes for future generations to enjoy. Great time spent there …. Well done to all involved

We are regular visitors to fighter world, in fact we have been over 6 times in the last 5 months (twice in the last 3 weeks) as my 3 year old is truly obsessed with "fighter jets". We always have a great time, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Only criticism is that I wish there was such thing as an annual pass or even a loyalty card

Kids loved sitting in a real cockpit, the planes, model collections, watching planes take off from the adjacent airport. We loved the informative displays and helpful staff. Great gift/souvenir shop with stuff you would actually want to buy your kids, including $1 gliders, model aircraft and second hand books. Definitely worth popping into.

Fabulous experience and the F35's taking off and landing - seen from the observation deck - was amazing - truly awe-inspiring - well worth the visit. Would highly recommended it!

The range of the exhibits. From models to full-size aircraft, it was great! Staff were great, it was easy to get around, just a good experience.

As always this was an interesting visit. Run by volunteers it is full of fascinating exhibits and memories. I would give it a 10 out of 10 if there were a few seats for the elderly to sit. Some grandparents would have appreciated a seat in the exhibit areas , not just the cafe. It would be a good idea to have computer access to RAAF Nominal Rolls so these records could be viewed by the families and general public.

We managed to see 4 fighter jets in action which was exciting to watch. Worth the visit to see the displays of the planes too.
